Cool down with creamy, spiced espresso, oat milk, and brown sugar, inspired by a coffeehouse favorite.

# What You Need:

01 - 2 fluid ounces freshly brewed espresso (or 1/3 cup strong coffee)

→ Brown Sugar Syrup

02 - 2 tablespoons brown sugar
03 - 2 tablespoons hot water
04 - 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

→ To Serve

05 - 1 cup ice cubes
06 - 3/4 cup unsweetened oat milk
07 - Optional: additional brown sugar or ground cinnamon for garnish

# Directions:

01 - Combine brown sugar, hot water, and ground cinnamon in a small cup. Stir until the sugar is thoroughly dissolved.
02 - Pullover two shots of espresso using an espresso machine or prepare 1/3 cup strong coffee as a substitute.
03 - Place ice cubes in a cocktail shaker or sealable jar. Add the brown sugar syrup and brewed espresso.
04 - Seal the shaker and shake hard for 20 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and develops a frothy texture.
05 - Transfer the shaken mixture, including the ice, into a tall glass.
06 - Top with unsweetened oat milk, pouring gently to create layers if preferred. Stir briefly to integrate flavors.
07 - Sprinkle with a pinch of ground cinnamon or extra brown sugar if desired. Serve immediately.

# Helpful Tips:

01 -
  • Shaking the drink gives it the luxuriously frothy texture you always wish for at home.
  • This version lets you control the sweetness and spice exactly how you like it.
02 -
  • If you skip shaking and just stir, you’ll miss that velvety mouthfeel—the difference is real.
  • Using barista oat milk changed everything for me; it foams up and tastes richer.
03 -
  • Taste your syrup before shaking—sometimes a pinch more cinnamon or sugar makes all the difference.
  • If you want cloud-like foam, use your coldest ice and shake longer than you think is needed.
